We call ourself as AVN Arogya Ayurvedic hospital, but offer a whole range of medical systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Rehabilitation, Psycho-therapy and Allopathic medicine to our patients. This might puzzle some, but we have a clear reason.
Ayurveda, is a wisdom relating to health in totality and it encompasses an approach which is all inclusive. It doesn’t exclude any intervention as beyond the scope of itself. There are specific statements in plenty that bear testimony to this.
“Jagatyevam Anoushadham na kinchit vidyate dravyam” literally means There is nothing on earth that is not a medicine”. This goes to show that it is not possible to call something as Ayurvedic medicine or Non-Ayurvedic medicine.
Ayurveda basically is a whole set of concepts which together offers us a very elaborate foundation to understand, interepret and work with health and disease. Ayurveda is not limited to some herbal concoctions that are useful to treat some diseases. The authors of the classical treaties on Ayurveda go to the extent of saying at the end of the section on basic principles that this is all there is to know for the intelligent. All specific treatments, protocols, procedures and products described thereafter, for different diseases, are only examples to explain the concepts better to suit the intellect of the ordinary.
Ayurveda advocates a wide range of therapeutic interventions starting from dietary modification to surgery, cauterisation with alkalies or thermal cauterisation or even poisonous plants and metals but the highight of concept is that one needs to use the mildest intervention that can solve the problem without causing any harmful effects to the extent possible. If the condition of the disease is severe or capable of causing damage quickly, treatment methods which are not completely safe may be resorted to, taking into consideration the fact that the benefits outweigh the risks and so all types of products and interventions are permitted and recommeneded in Ayurveda itself. Therefore the use of Allopathic medicines or other synthetic and powerful medicines with potential harmful effects are also not contraindicated in conditions where no better option exists.
The proponants of Ayurveda have also explicitely reiterated that one needs to adopt advances from contemperary sciences, enrich the science of Ayurveda and apply it to suit the current needs.
Clearly understanding this perspective from the clasical texts and realising the strengths and weaknesses of different sytems of medicine, we decided to make AVN Arogya a full fledged Ayurvedic hospital in the sense that it offers what-ever is the best for the patient. However we focus on areas where Ayurveda has a significant role to play, but do not hesitate to draw support from other systems of medicine where they could play a decisive role.
